The City of Mount Pleasant has one of the best-equipped Communication Divisions in East Texas. The Communications Division is a civilian component of the Police Department consisting of a Commissioned Commander, and nine communications employees.

This Divisional Unit has the responsibility to staff and answer, on a 24-hour basis, the telephones upon which calls for service are received.  In Mount Pleasant and Titus County, 911 calls are automatically routed to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.  Calls are routed to the appropriate agency. The Communications Unit serves as a support entity for the entire Mount Pleasant Police Department, Fire for Titus County and Mount Pleasant ISD Police Departments

Employees work as a close-knit team of professionals. The Communications Unit uses state of the art Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Record Management System (RMS), and Mobile Computing System (MCS) to receive and dispatch calls to officers and firefighters.
