LIBRARY CORNER | 05/27/22

Everyone here is geared up for summer programs. Registration continues through June 4. Bring your children in and sign them up. Jeanette has so much planned for summer reading and crafts. You don’t want to miss this!

We’re also taking reading and programming “outside” the walls this summer by making visits to some of the local childcare and senior care facilities. Look for us also at the Juneteenth Celebration and other city-sponsored events.

This week in the library:

  • All week—Registration for summer reading and programs
  • Tuesday—Preschool Story Time at 11 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Thursday and Friday—Sign up at four childcare centers

Back to our Library Reads list and Flying Solo by Linda Holmes. “Laurie faces a crossroads. She has just canceled a seemingly perfect wedding and flown across the country to deal with a beloved aunt’s estate. Among her aunt’s things, she finds a wooden duck decoy and that discovery sends her on a journey to find its origin, and in the process, herself. This is a terrific follow up to Evvie Drake Starts Over and great for fans of The Two Lives of Lydia Bird.” (6-14) Ron Block

Julie Clark’s latest is The Lies I Tell. “Journalist Kat befriends con artist Meg in hopes of exposing her in revenge for a past wrong. As they get close, the shifting points of view reveal layers of deception between two masterful manipulators. This is for fans of fast-paced thrillers in the vein of Mary Kubica and Jessica Knoll.” (6-21) Sonia Reppe

Fake It Till You Bake It is by Jamie Wesley. “When fashionable, privileged Jada is cut off by her parents, her NFL-team-owning grandmother suggests that she work at a cupcake shop, one that just happens to be owned by player Donovan Dell. Jada had previously met and insulted Dell. Neither of them counted on the sweet and spicy vibes that grow between them. This is a frothy, fun read perfect for fans of Ten Rules for Faking It and The Dating Plan.” (6-21) Laura Eckert

Cat Sebastian’s newest romance is The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes. “Marian, Duchess of Clare, just shot her husband. (He deserved it.) The only person who can help her now is highwayman, con artist, and all-around cheerful villain, Rob Brooks. Rob and Marian have madcap escapades and hijinks as they flee London in this Georgian romance that’s absolute perfection. This one’s for readers of KJ Charles and Evie Dunmore.” (6-7) Lindsey Bray

What we’re currently reading: Lupe—The Hacienda by Isabel Cana, Natalie—The Children on the Hill by Jennifer McMahon, Jeanette—Finding Me by Viola Davis, and Helen—One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle.
