I just finished The Madness of Crowds, number 17 in the Armand Gamache mystery series by Louise Penny. Did I say I loved it? I loved it! It’s the best one yet, but don’t begin there, start with Still Life.

Now, I’m knee deep in The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel and I highly recommend it. Lupe just finished another of her books, The Forest of Vanishing Stars and it’s also a keeper.

Three authors made the September Library Reads Hall of Fame. Included among them is Naomi Novik with her book, The Last Graduate. “El and her friends start their senior year, and if their fix worked, they should have a fighting chance against the maleficaria, beasts that feast on graduating students. But the school seems to be out to get El, as she’s suddenly the only one being targeted by mals. This is recommended for grown-up fans of fantasy school stories who would appreciate the darker side of this one.” This is the second in the Scholomance series. The first is A Deadly Education. (9-28) Mary Bell

Popular author, Meg Cabot’s latest is No Words. “In the third installment in Meg Cabot’s Little Bridge Island series, readers get an inside look at the local Book Festival through the eyes of Jo Wright, a popular and prolific children’s book author who is confronting her literary nemesis, Will Price. The sunshine and sea air may change their relationship for the better! This is a super-cute offering for Cabot fans!” Books one and two are No Judgments and No Offense. (9-28) Jessica Breslin

Evie Dunmore’s latest romance is Portrait of a Scotsman. “A forced marriage, an assumed affair, and a trip north to Scotland bring about multiple revelations between Hattie, a radical bluestocking, and Lucian, a self-made Scotsman. In this romantic novel, they learn to define what is important in their relationship. Dunmore does an incredible job of weaving in political and historical issues.” (9-7) Sarah Milner

We’re looking forward to cooler fall weather and seeing you in the library!
