Boots and Bells on the Square begins Saturday, November 6, and continues each Saturday through December 18. Visit the Square and then come to the library for Open House November 13, from 4-8 p.m. Bring the kids for pictures with Santa in front of our beautiful tree. The library will be decked out in lights and the Friends will provide refreshments. Jeanette and Natalie will even have a craft ready for the kids to make!

If you know folks who are visually impaired, encourage them to visit us to get information on the Texas Talking Books program. This program supplies a player and jump drives loaded with audio books. You don’t have to give up reading. See Jeanette McCoy for more info.

Just finished State of Terror by Louise Penny and Hillary Clinton. It was terrific!  I do recommend that you set aside all political bias and read it for the suspenseful story. It’s a page turner and my man, Armand Gamache, even makes an appearance!  I hope there are more stories to come.

The Library Reads folks recognized two Hall of Fame authors and their new books this month. I’m looking forward to reading These Precious Days by Ann Patchett. “Patchett’s soothing, matter of fact writing style puts you at ease and makes you feel better about your own shortcomings as a human. I cried and was jealous of the selflessness and kind heart that she and her husband had for Sooki, an email friend who became family.” (11-23) Kimberly McGee

November’s other Hall of Fame author, Jodi Picoult, brings us Wish You Were Here. “Picoult has written an intriguing tale about a woman named Diana and a few weeks when Covid changes her life. Diana’s relationships make this story interesting. The author’s description of the Galapagos, NYC, Covid and life during this period are on target This is for fans of Liane Moriarty and Sue Monk Kidd.” (11-30) Gail Christensen

I love this time of the year. The weather is beautiful. Thanksgiving is knocking at our door and Christmas is right around the corner. Any day is a good day to visit the library, but it’s even more special during the holiday season. Happy reading!
