December selections from Library Reads includes True Crime Story by Joseph Knox. “What happened to Zoe Nolan? She walked out of her dorm room and hasn’t been seen since. Knox weaves interviews, emails, and police reports into an immersive missing person’s case that will leave readers gasping for breath up until that last page. This one’s for fans of The Word is Murder and Six Stories series.” (12-7) Carol Ann Tack

In A History of Wild Places by Shea Ernshaw, “Travis has a gift. When he touches something, he experiences the memories associated with it. His path to find a missing author leads him to a remote commune. Then he, too, disappears. When one of the residents of that commune finds his truck years later, he realizes that the darkness they fled may already be in Pastoral. This is for fans of Saint X and The Girls.” (12-7) Deborah Smith

The Love Con is by Seressia Glass. “Engineer Kenya is a finalist on the reality show Cosplay or No Way, but to win she needs pal Cam to pretend he’s her boyfriend. This is a fun friends-to-lover, fake dating romance that will best suit folks into cosplay, cons, or geeky pursuits. Fans of Jen Deluca and Sara Desai will enjoy this one.” (12-4) Alezandra Troiani

Kimberly Belle’s latest is My Darling Husband. “Atlanta restauranteur Cam Lasky seemingly has it all, until a fire at his eatery and a terrifying home invasion threaten to destroy all he holds dear. With multiple perspectives adding to the mystery, this is another clever, fast-paced thriller from Belle and is for readers of Lisa Gardner and Chevy Stevens.” (12-28) Jayme Oldham

The Replacement Wife is by Darby Kane. “Elisa’s best friend, fiancée to her brother-in- law Josh, has disappeared and no one else seems worried. Elisa is suspicious of Josh, especially since he already has one dead wife. Will anyone believe her before it’s too late? This is for readers of The Girl on the Train and other unreliable-narrator thrillers.” (12-28) Chris Markley

The Library Reads Hall of Fame Author for December is the terrific author, Elly Griffiths. If you haven’t read her Ruth Galloway series, you’re missing something special. Her latest Brighton mystery is The Midnight Hour. “When retired theater impresario Bert is fatally poisoned in 1960s England, his wife—and prime suspect—hires the detective due of former policewoman Emma Holmes and Sam Collins to investigate. Griffiths is always excellent at plotting and character development, and this sixth Brighton mystery is no exception. Give this to fans of Louise Penny.” (12-7) Linda Tilden

If you haven’t been by to see the library all decked out for Christmas, please drop by. Also, don’t miss the Square on Saturday evening. The lights on the Court House and at Caldwell Park are spectacular.  Book a carriage ride, listen to good music and visit with Santa.

Happy reading and we’ll see you in the library!
