Give Input on Draft Parks, Trails, Recreation, and Open Space Plan

Citizens are invited to continue to participate in planning the future of Mount Pleasant by viewing the draft Parks, Trails, Recreation, and Open Space Plan online and providing input.

What is a Parks, Trails, Recreation, and Open Space Plan?

This plan is a guide for the City that focuses on long-term parkland needs, park improvements, trail construction, recreational facilities, streetscape improvements and future park projects.

Significant efforts including community and virtual public forums have been held to capture citizens’ vision for their city, and the completed plan will include the goals and objectives for achieving this vision.

The Park Board has been guiding the project, and members are Crystal Cassio, Kristi Flanagan, Sue Johnson, Sam Parker, Jr. and Tommy Shumate. Once the Park Board approves the plan, it will also be presented to City Council for adoption.

The process for developing the Parks, Trails, Recreation and Open Space as well as the Comprehensive Plan is being facilitated by the consulting firm of Kimley-Horn.
