Wildfire out of control

BURN BAN ORDINANCE ADOPTED

Just as a reminder of the severity of the extreme heat and drought conditions, County Judge Brian Lee and the Mount Pleasant City Council have adopted a Burn Ban that will remain in affect until conditions improve.

Nationally, almost 9 out of 10 wildfires are caused by humans. These preventable wildfires threaten lives, property and our precious natural resources. Activities prohibited by a Burn Ban include campfires, outdoor cooking and grilling, bon fires, burning trash and fireworks. Even a cigarette butt or spark from a muffler in dry grass can ignite a major fire.

Please be very careful! Once a fire is started, it is very difficult for our fire fighters to extinguish.
