UTILITY RATES FOR CITY OF MOUNT PLEASANT CUSTOMERS INCREASE IN 2024
Water rates for City of Mount Pleasant customers will increase 17 percent effective January 1 to address an increase in the cost of raw water from Lake Bob Sandlin and water treatment costs.
In 2023, the cost for water purchased from Lake Bob Sandlin increased by $400,000, and the cost of raw water treatment increased by $316,000. The cost of capital improvements has the biggest impact on the new rates.
The residential base rate for water will increase from $15.88 per month to $18.62 per month and the residential base rate for wastewater will increase from $16.95 per month to $19.87 per month.
The commercial base rate for water will increase from $18.63 per month to $21.84 and the commercial base rate for wastewater will increase from $19.20 per month to $22.51 per month.
The City’s 2024 Fee Schedule has been amended to reflect this increase and is posted on the City’s website.
