EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT – LAVONNE HEARRON

!!Meet Lavonne Hearron!!

She started working for the City of Mount Pleasant’s library department on March 17, 2005, when Lori Rigney hired her.  She has worked for 3 different directors since she has been employed with the city. Her favorite part of her job is interacting and becoming friends with the people of our community.  She has been blessed to see babies born, grow up and bring their own babies into the library.  She has become close like family to the older patrons and has also grieved their losses.

Lavonne was born in Mt. Pleasant, but said she was raised in Sugar Hill, between the Creeks.  She has been married to the same wonderful man since she was a sophomore in high school at the age of 16 and Larry 19.  They were married on Easter break and will celebrate their 52-wedding anniversary in April.   She and her husband were blessed with 2 wonderful hard-working children, Dustin 48 and Tina 46 and said they gave them 7 beautiful talented grandchildren.

Outside of work, she loves to spend time with her amazing family and loves to go to church with her church family.   She tried to watch and support her grandkids in their competitions, whether it’s fishing, baseball, or rodeos and now even events since one is starting his singing career.  She enjoys doing puzzles with her husband, working in the yard, and occasional trips to Oklahoma.

When we asked Lavonne what she wanted people to know about her she said, “you get what you see!”  She said she loves the Lord, her Family and her Friends.  She likes to make people laugh and have fun and tries to live life in a positive way.  She has a heart for people and will do what she can for anyone.

I went on to ask her to share a fun fact about herself that most people don’t know, she gave me the following answer…

“Well, I worked and helped open the first Walmart in Texas right here in Mt. Pleasant in 1975.  In my past life I was a bar tender at the Orange Blossom for several years.  I was a volunteer firefighter for over 17 years. I have always been called the “black sheep” of my family.  I was raised with 3 red headed sisters.”

Lavonne is definitely an interesting person, so next time you stop by the library, make sure to say hello and strike up a conversation.  I’m sure you won’t leave without being blessed.
