City of Mount Pleasant Honors Employees: Brenda Garmon Named 2022 Citywide Employee of the Year

Brenda Garmon was named 2022 Citywide Employee of the Year during the Annual Employee Awards Celebration held December 16 at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center.

“We are grateful to all of our employees and officers for their hard work and dedication,” said City Manager Ed Thatcher. “From our officers and firefighters who protect the community to the many unsung heroes who keep things like our water, streets, parks, library and administration running, there is sacrifice by not only the employees, but their families, throughout the year to ensure a high quality of life in Mount Pleasant.”

Brenda began her employment with the City in January of 2017 as an accountant and has gone above and beyond ever since to serve all City employees, citizens and customers.

“Brenda’s positive attitude and desire to help is noticed daily,” said Mr. Thatcher. “She does so much behind the scenes to ensure that payroll and accounts payable are  processed properly, which truly affects the lives of our employees and the businesses that support the City.”

Mr. Thatcher added that  Brenda is respected by her peers and known for putting everyone’s needs first without complaint, even if it means working late or traveling into work in severe weather such as the winter storm of 2021 .

“Brenda is very valuable to us all on staff, and a great asset to the City,” said Mr. Thatcher.
