EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT – JENNIFER WILLIAMS

!!Meet Jennifer Williams!!

Jennifer works in the Fire Department and has been with the City of Mount Pleasant since November 13, 2023. Her favorite part of her job would be the people she works with, because the fire department is made up of some amazing, caring, and talented people. Jennifer is a very sweet person; I felt her kindness when I first met her. No wonder the rules she lives by fit her so well. When asked what would you like the world to know about you? She replied, “I treat others the way I want to be treated. I talk to people the way I want to be spoken to; respect people as I wish to be respected. Your status, religion, race, political views, or culture don’t matter. Being a good person really is as simple as following the golden rule and treating others as you would like them to treat you.”

Jennifer has been married to her wonderful husband Marc for 35 years. They have 2 amazing daughters and sons-in-laws, Amanda and Wilson Phillips and Jessica and Josh Simmons. They have 2 granddaughters, Karlee and MaKenzie and has one more on the way. Some of her favorite things to do outside of work would be watching her granddaughter and nephews play softball and baseball. They like to take family trips when they can, and she loves spending quality time together. One thing she hasn’t done yet but would love to try sometime this year is the glamping experience.

A fun fact about Jennifer is that her mind is most creative during the hours from 1AM to 5AM. This is when she comes up with most of the ideas for any event or projects she might be working on. Both her daughters are schoolteachers and they always need ideas for this or that she says.

We asked her to share a funny story with us. Here is what she wrote…

One Christmas a family member had asked for a lizard. So, I went to a pet store in Texarkana to purchase a lizard for $5.99 plus some food. I had ordered a reptile cage from Amazon, and it was going to arrive the next day, and I had made plans on what I was going to do with the lizard until the cage arrived. The salesperson came over and started asking me questions about what I was going to do with this lizard, how I was going to take care of the lizard, what kind of cage did I had, what I was going to feed the lizard, and many other questions. I felt like I was being interrogated by a police officer. She then looked right at me and told me that she did not feel comfortable selling me a lizard. Both of my daughters were with me, and they were dying laughing due to the look on my face. I originally thought the salesperson was joking but oh no, she was not. I have raised two amazing daughters without any harm but not responsible enough to buy a $6 lizard.

Thank you Jennifer, we appreciate all you do for the city and for the Fire Department.
