This week is certainly busy, especially for our Friends of the Library. If you are interested in becoming a Friend of the Library, feel free to drop by on Monday for one of our meetings. We will also be preparing for our Lunch with Friends event. We would like to thank everyone that continues to support the Friends of the Library. This group is wonderful in helping in any way they can to the library.

This past month I decided to try a new TV series we added to the library, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you haven’t watched “Dark Winds,” you are missing out. Inspired by Tony Hillerman’s original “Leaphorn & Chee” novels and further continued by his daughter Anne after his passing, “Dark Winds” unravels against a 1970’s backdrop, paralleling an FBI bank heist investigation in Gallup with a Navajo police homicide case. Lt. Joe Leaphorn, new deputy Jim Chee, and Sgt. Bernadette Manuelito tackle most duties on the nearby reservation by Monument Valley. Intertwined with the strange behaviors of residents and visitors, the two men also grapple with inner demons while pursuing justice. For those intrigued, our library offers the complete series for your reading pleasure whenever you choose. My newest television fixation has certainly sparked an intention to delve into these novels too!

Another upcoming event taking place in the library is the fifth annual session of Lunch & Learn by the honors program at NTCC. This will take place in the library, Thursday, February 22nd from 12:15-1:15 p.m. The presentations will take place in the program room, and free pizza, salad, drinks, and dessert will be provided to those that RSVP with Dr. Andrew Yox at ayox@ntcc.edu by February 21st.
