Popular author B.A. Paris made the November Author Hall of Fame with The Prisoner. “When Ned proposes a business deal—a proforma marriage that will earn her enough money to go to university, Emily accepts, despite her girlfriends’ warnings. After the marriage, Ned isolates Emily, and everything unravels. Readalikes for this twisty tale include The Couple at Number 9 and The Golden Couple.” (11-1) Tine Kristensen

Clare Mackintosh made the list with Last Party. “When a body is found floating offshore, the annual lake plunge celebration in Cwm Coed is abruptly canceled. It soon develops that everyone in the community has a reason for wanting the victim dead. This is recommended to anyone who enjoys contemporary mystery fiction like I Know You Remember.” (11-8) Nancy Eggert

Another mystery writer, Lisa Unger, became a Hall of Fame author with Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six. “Three couples in an isolated luxury cabin in the woods, secrets, and unclaimed DNA tests under the tree. . .what could go wrong? Told in alternating chapters from different points of view, this is an excellent and suspenseful read for chilly autumn nights.” (11-8) Michelle Nebbie

The last Hall of Fame author is Lyssa Kay Adams with a light-hearted romance, A Very Merry Bromance. “Gretchen has an unexpected night with Colton and then avoids him for a year. Now she needs his help. Determined to be a part of her life, Colton enlists the help of the Bromance book club to provide support and advice. This is a story of love and the family you are born into and the one you create.” (11-1) Chris Markley

Have you seen the trailer to “A Man Called Otto?” It’s based on the book, A Man Called Ove and stars Tom Hanks. The story is about an older man determined to keep everyone at a distance. If you can, watch the trailer. The movie comes out at Christmas.  I think, like the book, this is going to be a treat.

Happy reading and we’ll look for you in the library!
