Fun activities at Juneteenth celebration

OAKLAWN JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION OFFERS FAMILY FUN FOR ALL ON JUNE 17

The community is invited to kick off the Juneteenth weekend festivities with family fun for all at Oaklawn Park on June 17 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Organized by Councilman Jerry Walker, there will be many food vendors, face painting, and cornhole, free throw and three-point tournaments.

The City of Mount Pleasant is providing miniature train rides, pony rides, water slides, a DJ/music and free ice cream sundaes and snow cones, and staff support. There will also be a wide array of vendors offering food and treats for purchase.

The competition schedule is as follows and will feature the opportunity to meet Mount Pleasant ISD coaches and players:

  • Free Throw (5th-12th grade only) – 11 a.m.; Registration at 10 a.m.
  • 3 Point (5th-12 grade only) – Noon; Registration at 11 a.m.
  • Cornhole Youth Tournament (18 and under) – 1 p.m.; Registration at Noon
  • Cornhole Adult Tournament (19 and over) – 4:30 p.m.; Registration at 4 p.m.

Medals will be awarded to all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. A Dedication Service concluding the festivities will begin at 6 p.m.
