CITY MANAGER ED THATCHER’S UPDATE: MOUNT PLEASANT CIVIC CENTER OFFERS TOP-NOTCH RESOURCES AND STAFF SUPPORT
As we head into 2023, I look forward to continuing to spotlight our City employees and how they serve our community. Many departments and divisions quietly and loyally work nights, weekends and holidays to ensure the needs of our citizens are met.
That includes the great team at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center, which is a division of our Parks and Recreation Department.
Led by Manager Brendan Dennehy, this team takes great pride in providing the best in service while offering a wide variety of accommodations for gatherings on any scale from 10 to 1,200 guests.
With events ranging from classes and meetings to weddings, reunions, trade shows and conferences, the Civic Center team is in a constant state of planning, setting up and following up to ensure that every customer enjoys a smooth and successful event.
“Brendan and his team do a great job from the first meeting with customers to help them select the correct space configuration and amenities to execution,” said Ricky Harris, Director of the Parks & Recreation Department. “Their expert guidance often enables a customer to rethink how they can better approach their event and even save money and time.”
In addition to flexible space up to the full 82-foot by 100-foot main hall with a stage, the Civic Center also offers state-of-the-art audio/visual systems, parking for up to 300 vehicles, a covered front drive, a digital marquee, wireless internet service, a commercial kitchen and adjacent outdoor open-air buildings.
Best of all, because this amenity was built by our citizens, for our citizens…the rental prices are quite reasonable. You can learn more about the Civic Center at www.mpcity.net under the “Our Community” menu.
In the meantime, please join me in thanking the Civic Center team for helping thousands of citizens and guests enjoy great gatherings and make happy memories.
Ed Thatcher, City Manager
