POLICE & CRASH REPORTS

Anyone may request information from the Mount Pleasant Police Department pursuant to the Public Information Act.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department has 10 business days to respond to your request. In lieu of releasing information, the Mount Pleasant Police Department may request an opinion from the Open Records Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office who has 45 days to respond. Complete case files on an open investigation will not be released with a ruling from the Texas Attorney General’s Office.

Download the Police Report Request Form and fill it out completely. Incomplete forms could result in a delay. Please submit with a self-addressed stamped envelope and mail your request to:

REQUEST IN PERSON

Request can be made at the front Dispatch window of the Mount Pleasant Police Department. The dispatcher on duty will provide you with the proper form to fill out in order to submit an Open Records Request.

REQUEST VIA ONLINE FORM

Request a report online. Complete the fill in the blank form provided. You have the option to have the report emailed back. Once completed the request will be sent to the Records Department.

ANNUAL RACIAL PROFILING REPORTS

In compliance with Texas Code of Criminal Procedure (CCP) 2.134, the following Racial Profiling Comparative Analysis of Motor Vehicle Stops has been completed.

COSTS & FEES

FOR RECORDS & REPORTS

Cost for records and reports are set by the Texas Attorney General’s Office and the Texas Transportation Code.

  • Accident/Crash Reports- $6.00 (First copy is complimentary to parties involved if requested within a month of the crash date.)
  • Incident Report- $0.10 per page for the first 50 pages
  • Offense Reports- $0.10 per page for the first 50 pages
  • CD’s- $1.00 per CD
  • DVD’s- $3.00 per DVD
  • Background Check- $5.00

Requests made that are over 50 pages will require an additional $15.00 per hour labor charge.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

Attorney General Governmental Code 552.101 Prohibits governmental entities from compiling or summarizing an individual’s arrests, suspect listings, and criminal defendant information. This information takes on a character that implicates the individual’s right of privacy. You cannot simply request ALL information concerning a certain individual.

Arrest Reports ARE public record. In order to request an arrest report on an individual, you must specifically request the report, (ie. Name, arrest charge type, date, or arrest location). This request is made as an Open Records Request.

A Mount Pleasant Police Department Background Check is a certified letter and all unredacted arrest reports on file or a Clearance Letter stating you have no arrests on file. A Background Check is limited to information in local MPPD records. It does NOT include information in other locations in Texas or in the U.S.

REQUESTING A BACKGROUND CHECK ON YOURSELF

IN PERSON
A Background Check can be requested on yourself in person at the Mount Pleasant Police Department. You will need your valid government issued identification. This includes state issued Driver’s License or ID, Passport, MX ID, or MX/US Employment ID. There is a $5.00 fee.

BY MAIL
A Background Check can be requested by mail. In order to make the request by mail, you will need to download the Background Request Form below. Fill the form out completely and sign in front of a notary. Mail the notarized Background Request Form, a copy of your valid government issued identification, and $5.00 Check or Money order to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Attn: Police Records, 501 N Madison Ave, Mount Pleasant, TX 75455.

REQUESTING A BACKGROUND ON ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL

In order to request a Background Check on another individual, which includes all unredacted arrest information, you must provide a notarized consent from that person. The notarized consent along with a copy of their government issued identification is used to make the Background Check request. This request can be made in person or by mail and there is a $5.00 fee.
