MOUNT PLEASANT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Mount Pleasant Public Library and Historical Museum has something for everyone.

The library has more than 33,000 items available for check-out, including books for children, teens, and adults, as well as audio books, DVDs and magazines. Ebooks and Eaudio books are also available through Libby.

Other books and materials available for in-house use only include the Family and Local History Collection and microfilm. Newspapers have been digitized and are available on the internet at The Portal to Texas History.

Additional resources include databases, interlibrary loan services, and public access computers.

Each age group has a special area including a Family Play Place for kids 4 years and under, The Hangout for school-aged kids, a Teen Room and adult section. Seating areas are found throughout the library. Two study rooms are available for small group study. A program room is available for non-profit groups to reserve when not being used for library programs.

The historical museum focuses on life and times in Mount Pleasant and Titus County in years gone by, and features interactive displays such as a Caddo grass hut, a Civil War camp, and a log cabin.

The library extends into a garden, or “Explorium”, especially designed for children.

LIBRARY SERVICES

  • Interlibrary Loans
    Borrow a book from another library. A fee of $4.00 is charged for postage.
  • Library & Museum Tours
    Library and Museum tours for schools, scouts, clubs, and other groups.
  • Public Computers
    Computers are available throughout the library for both adults and children.
  • Public Printing
    Printing is available through library computers and via email to the library.
  • Public Copier
    A public copier is available. Black and white copies are 25 cents per page.
  • Income Tax Forms
    Tax Forms are available in the Library lobby during tax season only.
  • Notary Services
    Notary services are now available, free of charge.  Proper identification is required.
  • Group Study Rooms
    Two study rooms are available for groups of 2-4 people (2 hrs. max).
  • Program/ Community Room
    A large community room is available for non-profit group meetings.

Yes, the library does accept gently used items during the months of March and April. View the library’s donation policy for more information.

Yes- Tours of the library and/or museum can be tailored to fit the interests of your group, and must be scheduled in advance. Call the library at 903-575-4180 to schedule.

Yes- The card catalog is available online 24/7. Online Card Catalog

Access your account online to renew books or to reserve an item that another patron currently has checked out. Login using your library card number and your last name in all caps. Access your account.

The library doesn’t rent meeting rooms, but the Civic Center has several rooms available.

Children must be over the age of 10 years to visit the library without an adult caregiver. Leaving children for extended periods is not acceptable. See the library policy regarding children in the library for more information.

The library has basic tax forms available only during tax season. Forms may also be downloaded from the IRS website or ordered from the IRS by phone and delivered to your address.

The library is located at 601 North Madison, next to City Hall and the Police Department. The main entry is at the corner of Van Buren and Sixth Street (back corner nearest MPPD).

Yes! The library has eBooks. Patrons may access and download eBooks using their library card number and last name in all caps. Search & download eBooks
